Kiera's Babies
And other news from Red Willow
Kiera has had her second litter on the 28th June 2009. She played hide and seek with us but luckly a guest found her under a pile of wood, just as she was starting to give birth. The first puppy had come out and we managed to rescue him and Kiera. She had 7 healthy puppies however sadly 3 still births. A week on and mum and babies are doing very well and 7 seems to be a good number for her to cope with. So if you are still due to come and visit the ranch be aware that you may fall madly in love with one of these little dogs.
Bennie has now been castrated and is enjoying life amongst the herd. It has caused some confusion amongst the horses and they are still working out a Ranking amongst themselves. Luckily without too much fighting, just a lot of squealing. He is especially protective of Gucci and her foal. He will now be used as a riding horse.
Ulrike and Craig’s baby hasn’t arrived as yet. The due date is tomorrow Sunday 5th July but it the baby seems very content where it is at the moment so we are expecting it to be late. However the excitement is rising and we all can’t wait to meet the little one.
The season is now really starting and we are going to get busy here on the ranch with guests and building fences.		Bennie and the mares
