Elke has returned from the Equitana where she met many former guests and new people. It was a very successful trade show with many connections being made for the upcoming season and beyond. Whilst Elke was away the Ranch continued to be prepared for the guests this summer. All the rooms in the Guesthouse have been painted to give them a fresh new look for the summer. Spring cleaning is now strongly underway to make our cozy guesthouse ready for its inhabitants.
The snow is now almost gone as well and the horses are enjoying the first grass sprouts. Even though we are trying to keep them away a little so that it can grow more. Not always an easy challenge. Fences are starting to be fixed and renewed. Our ice storm in December unfortunately took down many trees and with it quite a number of fences. Therefore it is now all hands on deck to get the trails ready and the fences up.
All of Kiera’s puppies have now been sold and have gone to very good homes. It was with sad hearts we let the last one go but the 9 remaining dogs are a never ending joy and always fun to be with. On other animal news Snowy has given birth to the first foal of the season. Born on April 28th at midday he is already up and enjoying the sunshine and pasture with his mum. The herd is looking on curiously at this new being and Sky has already taken on the position of Aunty. He is a beautiful colt exactly halve mum halve dad in his markings, which we hope will stay. His name is Pebbles.
We are still expecting one more foal from Gucci so they will have playmates and lots of fun over the summer. On the human front Ulrike’s pregnancy is progressing very well and all is set for a date of July 5th for the arrival of the first human baby. Ulrike & Craig are excited to show of their baby to all the guests that will be here at this wonderful time.
